The Dead Trenches Orzammar Part 2 Move forward and approach Branka, Oghren must be in your party. The path is linear, loot the two Dwarf Corpses and two Darkspawn Corpses as you move on. Fighting the darkspawn all the way back to the Dead Trenches is a huge turn around for the Dwarven people and the world. If you are looking for the Warden with the most impact IN the game, then that would be Mage, freeing the circle (or trying to) is a large boon as well as has quite a lot of impact in DA2 and undoubtedly DA:I.
Dragon Age Origins Dead Trenches Release
*
To save time on my other posts (like the Builds) and to give more detailed information, I’ve compiled a list of the equipment I like best on my characters and NPCs. I’ve also included full information on how to get them or where they come from. That was just a little too much for the Build’s pages. I put some general info on those posts, so there will be some repetition. I was afraid if I put all of this on each one would be overwhelming.
This is by no means the only good equipment in the game, and you may have better luck with something else. I’m just sharing my experiences in what I like and use most often to get me most easily through the game.

Weapons
Vanilla Game (not from DLCs, the Collector’s Edition, or mods):
Early Weapons:
The Green Blade (single hand weapon)
This is from Redcliffe. You’ll need at least 2 in Persuasion / Coercion to complete this quest. When in the Redcliffe chantry there’s a girl crying near the door. Speak to her and she’ll tell you that her brother is lost. Offer to find him for her then leave the Chantry and go around the corner to Kaitlyn’s house. Her brother, Bevin, is inside the closet. Use Persuasion to tell you why he’s hiding. He’ll eventually tell you that his grandfather left him a sword and give you the key to the chest upstairs if you Persuade him or tell him that you’ll give his sister some money.
If you’re a Warrior with a lot of strength you may want to use Intimidate because it relies on your Strength stat. If you’re a Rogue or have better Cunning, then use Persuasion.

Kaitlyn
Kaitlyn’s House
Bevin
How you handle the end of the quest is up to you, but you can now go upstairs and get the sword out of the chest.
While the bonuses aren’t particularly useful on this sword, it doesn’t take high stats to use it and deals out decent damage for early in the game, so I use it.
Oathkeeper (single hand weapon) – You get this for completing all the Chanter’s Board quests in Lothering
Yusaris (2 handed weapon):
This sword comes from a side quest in the Circle Tower called Watchguard of the Reaching. To complete this quest, look for the 6 Apprentice notes as you clean out the Tower to ally yourself with either Mages or Templars.
Dragon Age Origins Dead Trenches
You can see the map where I found them by clicking this link. It was too large for Photobucket.
Now you should have the Codexes filled and be ready to go on to the next part of the quest. This entails touching the statues seen below in the following order (click on picture to make them bigger):
Bowl
Sword pointing up Sword pointing down
Be warned that on the PC you get no confirmation or special effects unless you do it wrong.

Then you need to go to the central room shown below and touch the statue with the shield. This is on the 4th floor.
Dragon Age Origins Dead Trenches Mod
Once you’ve done that, go back down to the basement. It’s in the room where you met Wynne and there are some children and Apprentices. Touch the door to the basement and a fire demon will appear. Beat it (the Apprentices will help you automatically) and you’ll get Yusaris.
End Game Weapons:
The Keening Blade – you get this from a side quest which runs throughout the game called Unbound. There’s a dwarf in Tapsters Tavern who is babbling and sounds crazy. Speak to him.
There’s a corpse in the Ruined Temple of Haven (see below for green spot on map. This is the actual place you’ll find it. Click to enlarge pictures.)
There’s a part in the Werewolf Ruins. See below.
You go to one of the back alleys of Denerim and knock on the door.
Knock on the door. A dialog will open up about Gaxkang and you go in and fight him. This is likely not going to be an easy fight, and I think he’s ranked right below the Archdemon in how hard he is to kill. He’ll always drop the Keening Blade. He’ll also do a random drop of the Fade Wall Shield and something else inconsequential (gold, poultices, etc.)
Topsider’s Honor
You get this in a side quest through Orzammar’s Deep Roads. Part of it is in a vase next to Ruck, the crazed Shopkeeper and missing son to Filda. You can find Ruck in the Ortan Thaig where it says “Ruck’s Cave” below.
The other pieces will drop as you go through the Deep Roads from harder than average Darkspawn. Be sure to visit the Topsider’s grave in Ortan before you leave the area.

If you don’t touch the coffin the last part of the quest won’t spawn when you get there, and you’ll have to go back. You can go back, but this saves a step. The very last part of the sword is held by an Ancient Darkspawn with a red name. You run into him pretty quickly when you’re in the Dead Trenches. Kill him to collect the last piece.
Keep in mind these were live Darkspawn and move around, but here were the 2 places you can get the first and last pieces. (Click to enlarge.)
Before leaving Orzammar, stop by the coffin in Ortan again and touch the coffin one more time. This will give you the Topsider’s Honor sword.
The Summer Sword (2 handed weapon)
You get this by killing Cauthrien, which can be done in two places. The first is when you’re about to be taken to jail and working toward the Landsmeet. You can fight your way through the room and kill everyone. I’ll put a video up on how I do that for the PC for anyone who has a problem with that battle when I get the chance, but although tough, it can be done.
The second way is to kill her right before you enter the Landsmeet chamber to face off with Loghain. This is a lot easier.
Ageless 2 handed sword
Dragon Age Origins Dead Trenches Free
Before crowning the dwarf king ONLY Ageless is found in a side quest for Orzammar. To get it, go into the Royal Palace and look for pressure plates. They make a grinding / clicking sound when stepped on. Put your party on hold and park someone on the plate which is outside the door to the actual throne room. It’s near the middle of the room and easy to see. Wynne is standing on it in the picture below (click on it to make it bigger. Again, you have to do this before you crown Harromont of Bhelen or it doesn’t work.)
Park someone on the other plates near the wall – there’s 2 and the plates are kind of like a Y shape.
Roland (the Ser Gilmore mod) and Alistair are standing on them. This is the view from across the room. (Click on it to make it bigger.)
Here’s a close up of how they’re standing.
Touch the throne and a dragon will appear. Kill it and pick up the sword.
Staff of the Magister Lord – bought from the Quartermaster / shop in the Circle Tower
Dragon Age Origins The Dead Trenches
DLC Weapons:
Blightblood – One handed weapon from Darkspawn Chronicles (awarded automatically for finishing the DLC.)
Maric’s Blade – One handed weapon from Return to Ostagar. It’s in the chest with Cailan’s documents.
Duncan’s Sword – One handed weapon from Return to Ostagar. Reclaimed after killing the risen ogre at the end.
Sorrows of Arlathan Bow – From Witch Hunt, automatically awarded for finishing the DLC.

Austurian’s Might – One handed sword from Soldier’s Peak. To get it, collect all the notes on the history of the Peak. One is outside, one is in Sophia’s room, and one is in the room where you face the old mage, Avernus. This will allow you to click on a large portrait on your way out and reveal a hidden chest with the sword and some other things in it.
Starfang – This sword is attached to the DLC Soldier’s Peak. You must complete Soldier’s Peak and also trigger the random cutscene which is a tip of the hat to Superman. You can actually trigger the “random” scene by going back and forth from Honnleath (The Stone Prisoner DLC opens this town.) You must pick up the ore from the crater then take it to the blacksmith Mikail Dryden at Soldier’s Peak. He’ll create either a 2 handed sword or a broadsword for you with the following stats:
2 Handed Sword
Mods: Bow of the Forgotten Ranger
